My name is Knut Johan Monkan, and I am the founder of Coastal Host. Through a rich and varied life – as a teacher, leader, athlete, and passionate community contributor – I’ve learned to navigate the river of life: sometimes with the current, other times against it. No matter the direction, you can go far with determination, a smile, and the will to never give up.
In 2021, I was honored to be named Everyday Hero of the Year in Trøndelag – an award that means a lot to me because it’s about seeing others and lifting together.
Coastal Host was created to do just that. We create genuine and memorable experiences along the coast, in close collaboration with local businesses and people. Based in Bessaker, we share nature, culture, and community – in the meeting between guest and village.
We believe in the power of closeness, in warm hospitality, and in experiences that leave a lasting impression. With us, you don’t just get a product – you meet people and their stories.

Vi har sett og opplevd mye på vår ferd, men en dag ilag med dokker slår alt, å da meine eg ALT! Knut Johan Monkan og Per Anders Brattgjerd, uten dokker hadde vi bidd å passert på nytt. Men et sånn arrangement som dokker har vært med på står det respekt av! Eg kjenner langt inni hjerterota stoltheta av å fått muligheten te å være en del av en sånn stor dag. “Bessakerfølelsen” fikk vi virkelig føle på! Vi seile videre nord med et smil om munn og en følelse av lykke. Vi ønske oss tebake te Bessaker! Håpe vi sees igjen snart.

Et av de viktigste samarbeidsprosjektene vi i PLO har angående, er med “Bygdilag” med primus motor Knut Johan Monkan i spissen! Guidet omvisning, fantastisk servering og flotte opplevelser sto på programmet, og det var slitne men VELDIG fornøyde beboere som kom hjem etter dagens opplevelse!
